Rabies Clinic Protect Your Family - Dogs & Cats Must Be VaccinatedDuration: 9/8/2010, 2:00pm to 9/15/2010, 6:00pmWednesday, September 8, 2010 - 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. and Wednesday, September 15, 2010 - 2:00 - 6:00 p.m.
Almonte Veterinary Services, 10 Industrial Dr., ALMONTE and Mississippi Veterinary Services, 2809 Highway 29 S., PAKENHAM.
Dogs & Cats must be on a leash or in a carrier.
The goal of hosting these clinics is to help provide rabies vaccinations to as many cats and dogs as possible. Prompting this change in date is the celebration of World Rabies Day in September (September 29, 2010).
In addition, at this time of the year hunters are preparing for the hunting season and it is important that their dogs be vaccinated against rabies. While running in the bush, hunting dogs have the potential of interacting with wild life that may have rabies.
It is important that pet cats or dogs remain up-to-date with their rabies vaccination as they too could be at risk of getting rabies. By increasing the vaccination coverage in pets we will help to minimize the potential transmission of rabies to humans.
Rabies is a deadly disease that can be prevented. Did you know that a person dies from Rabies every 10 minutes throughout the world? Help prevent the spread of rabies by vaccinating your pet dog or cat.

Our goal is to offer vaccinations that are affordable and convenient for pet owners in an attempt to vaccinate as many animals as possible.
Kent County is a very rural, bucolic place with plenty of wildlife. It is not uncommon for pets to come face to face with raccoons, bats, opossums, etc. on a regular basis.
You can't stop nature, but you can help give your pets a fighting chance by getting them regular rabies vaccinations/boosters.
Price:$6/animal

Vaccinate your dog and help a Cat, too!Duration: 09/28/2010, 11:00 am to 09/28/2010, 7:00 pmOn World Rabies Day 2010, September 28, Dr. Evelyn Sharp, DVM is hosting a low-cost rabies vaccination clinic for Santa Cruz County, California, dogs which will benefit the feral cat population. For only $5, dogs will receive a rabies vaccination, generously donated by Pfizer Animal Health, and the fee will go to Project Purr, a local all-volunteer non-profit feral cat rescue organization. The vaccine clinic will be open to all dogs of Santa Cruz County, first come - first served from 11am to 7pm on Tuesday, September 28. The cost is $5 /cash only. Dogs must be on-leash, healthy, and at least 4 months old to be vaccinated. Santa Cruz County Animal Services will be hosting the event at 2200 7th Avenue in Santa Cruz, California.
This will be a special, one-day-only low cost vaccine clinic and will provide a great opportunity for dog owners to get their dogs protected against the deadly disease of rabies, register their dogs with County Animal Services if needed, and help fund veterinary care for feral cats. Project Purr is an all-volunteer non-profit in Santa Cruz County. For the past 20 years, they have spayed and neutered feral cats. Feral cats are not socialized and are unable to be handled. They live outside and require daily food and water, simple warm dry shelter, and lifelong care. Every year, Project Purr helps save lives by funding a low cost but high quality veterinary Trap-Spay/Neuter-Return program to over 600 feral cats. The cats are released to their familiar environment but no longer have litters of kittens in the wild.
"Working together, we will humanely reduce cat overpopulation and hope some day all animals will have loving homes", says Lynne Achterberg from Project Purr. The event is sponsored by Pfizer Animal Health, My Personal Vet, Project Purr, and Santa Cruz County Animal Services. Rescue organizations in our community have come together to support this compassionate and life-affirming event.

100 Feral Cats VaccinatedDuration: 9/18/10, 8:00 am to 9/18/10, 6:00 pmOn September 18, 2010, the Feral Cat Alliance (FCA), a student-run organization affiliated with the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine, hosted a World Rabies Day event in Ames, Iowa. FCA is a non-profit organization committed to serving central Iowa through humane control of feral cat populations using the trap-neuter-vaccinate-return (TNVR) method. The organization stays in contact with people throughout central Iowa that monitor feral cat populations. Caretakers trapped the cats and transported them to the veterinary college the morning of the clinic. Pulling together the efforts of university faculty, area clinicians, and of course the student body at the College of Veterinary Medicine, 100 feral cats were vaccinated for rabies. In addition to rabies vaccination, every feral cat was spayed or neutered, tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV, dewormed, and given the feline DRC vaccine. The feral cats were ear-tipped for identification and returned to the caretakers for their re-release in their original environment. With a lot of planning and volunteers, the World Rabies Day event hosted at Iowa State University was an enormous success. Our organization of veterinary students and mentoring ISU CVM faculty will continue vaccinating and surgically sterilizing feral cats in an effort to control overpopulation and eliminate the spread of rabies.

We believe that by educating the public we can raise awareness and do a good deed.
Since we are targeting those that are less fortunate we are not publicly advertising this event. We are handing out flyers at food pantries, homeless shelters, and pet food banks. Our local animal control is also going to be handing out flyers to those that need assistance.

Miami Beach 3000 Kick-Off EventDuration: 9/26/2010, 8:30 am to 09/26/2010, 4:30pmWe are reducing the overpopulation of stray and free-roaming cats of Miami Beach, while at the same time improving their lives through sterilization and rabies vaccination. Miami Beach has a long history of stray cats beginning in the late 1800's when cats were brought to the Beach to fight the rat problem. Unfortunately, human intervention went awry and the cats were left to breed uncontrollably. In the mid-1990's spay & neuter attempts were introduced and are on-going but there are so many cats that Cat Network along with the Clydey Foundation and the City of Miami Beach are joining forces to conquer the problem. We want to sterilize 3000 cats in one year by having Spay Days every month. Our kick-off event, taking place at Flamingo Park on South Beach, will include FREE sterilizations and FREE rabies vaccinations for all street cats. Pet cats will also be accepted but there will be a nominal fee for the surgery with a FREE rabies vaccination. The Spay Day will be preceded by two days of intensive trapping of up to 80 cats. We are looking for volunteer trappers. Keep checking our website for further details!
