In honor of World Rabies Day 2009 the Humane Society of Kandiyohi County in Willmar Minnesota hosted a Pet Vaccination and Microchip Clinic. The event was held on World Rabies Day, September 28th 2009, at the Harvest Community Church. Companion animals were Micro-chipped and Vaccinated for both Rabies and Distemper. Kind News: The Alliance for Rabies Control and The Humane Society of the United States Youth team up to further educate children for World Rabies Day. The September Kind News Newsletter outlines the importance of rabies education as it is a disease that is 100% preventable in humans. The Jr. and Sr. September 2009 issue of Kind News focuses on the affects of Rabies around the world for humans and animals. These articles also promote general rules for rabies as well as give educational activities for children to participate in. The Kind News Newsletter is a quarterly newsletter distributed to school children all across the United States. ARC Newsletter: The Newsletter of The Alliance for Rabies Control is published on a quarterly basis to show you first hand the latest news and updates of project campaigns around the world. The newsletter is also very informative on how Rabies affects the lives of humans and animals in countries across the world daily. Rabies Brochure (AVMA): "What you should know about Rabies" is a brochure on what is rabies, what is an exposure, how to handle an exposure and more. Utilize this brochure to educate your staff and volunteers along with individuals in your community. This brochure is provided by the American Veterinary Medical Association.

 

 

2008 Rabies Compendium: The Compendium of Animal Rabies Prevention and Control, 2008 is a document provided by the National Association of State Public Health Veterinarians, Inc. This document guides you through information concerning rabies exposures, quarantine guidelines, prophylaxis, vaccine manufactures and more. This document is for your use and for distribution to practicing veterinarians, wildlife rehabilitators, animal welfare organization, and officials in animal control, public health, wildlife management, and agriculture.

 

Dog Bite Prevention (AVMA): "What you should know about Dog Bite Prevention" is a brochure on learning how to prevent situations that can lead to dog bites. This brochure lists what to do to prevent an attack along with what to do if your dog bites. Utilize this brochure to educate members in your community of all ages. This brochure is provided to you by the American Veterinary Medical Association.

 

 

Rabies: The Disease, The Virus, The Treatment (PPT): Utilize this power point for discussions, training, self learning, and community presentations. This power point discusses the rabies virus and how it replicates and cycles through the body; how many people/animals are affected; what is an exposure and the next step; pre-exposure and post-exposure vaccines and how they work; and more. This power point is provided to you by the World Rabies Day team.
