Duration: 03/18/2007, 3.38 PM to 03/15/2008, 23.59 GMT
Access to rabies vaccination is limited by high ocst of tissue culture vaccines after baning of neural vaccines. The intradermal strategy which has proven effective is licenced in India, but not being implemeted on a scale large enough to ensure access to the cost effective life saving regimen. Efforts by Dr Bharti of JSA HP led to inroduction of the I/D regimen in HP, a hill state in north India. Advocacy efforts are underway with various stakeholders to get the I/D vaccination intrduced in other states and upscale this initiative. Support is welcome.
